I recently wrote an entry on Supply Chain Vulnerability which examined the issue from the aspect of supply chain interruption as in how Buyers plan for the possibility that their goods will not arrive for some catastrophic reason.
Another interpretation of supply chain vulnerability is the security of the goods as they pass from one hand to another. This is a great chart that visually illustrates the way freight moves from "factory to shelf" as the page states.
The chart is also a great resource for Buyers to use when explaining true costs to other people in their organizations because it shows how cost of material is not the only factor in what the final price of an item is.
