I was just reading an article about SEO outsourcing trying to convince readers that outsourcing for search engine optimization made more sense for a company than hiring SEO individuals directly. Of course, the author of the article provides such outsourced services. Then I imagined a person interviewing for a search engine optimization position explaining to the interviewer why it makes so much more sense to hire him or her directly. No doubt both sides would have valid and intriguing points. Is there a right answer?
Buyers face the same type of decisions every day when they decide among vendors. Is there a right answer (vendor) or are several equally capable? How does one choose?
Let's assume price and other terms/conditions are relatively equivalent. What goes into the decision making process? Here are some factors to consider:
- Prior experience with the salesperson and/or company.
- Reputation of the company within the industry and the buyer's circle of contacts.
- Presentation of materials and sales pitches.
- Responsiveness to questions incidents throughout the RFP process.
Companies and salespeople should note that all those factors relate directly to the efficiency, dedication, and personalities of the salespeople!
