Every Buyer in the middle of creating an RFP (Request for Proposal) has wondered at some point why the darn things just can't write themselves. Well, hold on to your keyboards because On-Line Consultant Software claims to have created a software product that automates the RFP process for software product selection. (Software selecting software sounds like the basis of cautionary Star Trek (Paramount Home Entertainment) episode!)
I have not used the software package, but the website does make it sound enticing. I am going to mention some more general things I learned from reading the site and then actually sign up for the site demo and report how it looks and feels in a separate blog entry.
They have a chart comparing the time (then converted to money)necessary for creating traditional software RFP's on your own (which I have done) as opposed to creating them using their system. Not surprisingly, the chart concludes that using the software is approximately 3-11 times more efficient monetarily.
The company also has their product customized for 11 different types of software systems such as Healthcare, Finance, and Human Resources. This seems to be a smart approach as the questions will geared to specific industries rather than be so generic the vendor would have to interpret them to fit the particular situation. Prices on the site run from $400-$1,000 depending upon which industry is selected.
