Since we are joining the talent in procurement round table blogging discussion (previous Purchase Realm entry on subject here), it seems fitting to explore the topic further.
In researching how people arrive here at the PurchaseRealm website, I've found that a percentage come by using certain phrases in search engines such as "how to become a buyer," "what is a buyer," what does a buyer do," and "careers in Purchasing." Since these eager and interested future Purchasing professionals are searching out information, I thought it would be nice if those of us already in the industry helped them out!
What I am looking for is some guest blogger entries on the subject "A Day in the Life of a Buyer." Since we all work in different industries, for various companies, with assorted commodities, and have different experience levels, we should be able to get a variety of responses that will give prospective Buyers a glimpse into the career.
Topics could include:
- Type of your daily activities
- How you interact with other internal departments
- Dealing with contracts, vendors, products
- Something you wish you knew about the industry before you entered it
- Whataver advice you want to share with prospective Buyers
