I just read an interesting article titled Researching Potential Employers by Rose Curtis. It suggests that job seekers learn all they can about their potential supervisors by searching various ways online.
The Internet has sure given brought forth a revolution in amateur sleuthing. People are encouraged to check out potential dates, neighbors, and even professors which can be done at the aptly named RateMyProfessors.com. (Where was this site when I was in college?)
With all this checking going on, why aren't Buyers checking out sales reps too? That has always been done informally through word of mouth and that fact that both Buyers and sales reps move from company to company creating a network of possible information givers.
The availability of Google's (GOOG) search engine sure makes it easier than ever before. Wouldn't it be great to know what to expect from a salesperson based on something other than all the promises made before a contract is signed.
If anyone knows of some sites that are specifically made for rating salespeople, please share them in the comments section. If this post inspires someone to start such a site, don't forget to mention that you hear it here first.
