Have you ever used a Purchasing headhunter? By that I mean a recruitment firm whose main clientele is Purchasing people as opposed to a temporary firm which may happen to place employees or contractors in a Purchasing department in an administrative position.
I've been contacted by these firms, but never at a time when I was actually looking for a new job. (Of course, when I did want to utilize a firm to obtain new job, then nobody could find an appropriate one. Go figure.)
I've worked with several people who have obtained their jobs through these firms. They were always great employees who advanced in the organization.
If you are considering utilizing a headhunter, be sure to choose one whose finder's fees are paid by the hiring organization. Whether or not you are looking for a new Purchasing job now, it would be smart to contact a headhunter and let him or her know that you would just like to make an introduction so you will be kept in mind should something come up.
Remember, the headhunter should know about jobs before they hit the open market as well as jobs that will never hit the open market. Instead of you having to find the perfect Purchasing job, it may just find you!
